SILVRETTA CLASSIC 2024

As a proud partner of the Silvretta Classic, UNION GLASHÜTTE was looking forward to this year's classic car rally in Montafon. The Silvretta Rally took place for the 26th time from 4 to 6 July 2024, with around 180 historic vehicles from seven decades taking part. This prestigious event combined the beauty of the Alpine landscape with the elegance of classic cars. The oldest vehicle in the starting field was a 1932 Vauxhall, and the rally participants enjoyed not only the breathtaking views and fresh Alpine air, but also the challenging metres in altitude that the Montafon has to offer.

The first day of the race began with a 146-kilometre route through the picturesque Montafon. The participants rode along the Silvretta High Alpine Road to Bielerhöhe and on to Brand near Bludenz, past the charming village of Gargellen.

The second day demanded everything from the riders, with a challenging 277 km route to the Kaunertal Glacier at an altitude of 2,750 metres. In addition to the glacier, the route also led through the picturesque region around Imst.

The last day of the race took the classic cars through Vorarlberg on a route of 168 kilometres, winding through Zürs, Lech, Warth, Schröcken and Damüls. This stage offered marvellous views and demanding sections that challenged both drivers and vehicles.

The limited edition created for the rallye

This year, UNION GLASHÜTTE is once again presenting a limited edition timepiece for the Silvretta Classic: based on the popular Belisar chronograph, a matching model has been designed with a new dial in a copper-brown colour. This special colour is reminiscent of cars from the 70s and 80s. Thanks to the sunburst finish, the dial changes colour depending on the incidence of light and appears matt or shiny at times. The brown tone forms a fitting contrast to the matt white totalisers, while the minute counter is reminiscent of rev counters from historic automobiles. Retro mushroom pushers, screwed-on flanks and a slightly domed sapphire crystal round off the vintage character of the chronograph.
