1893 Johannes Dürrstein Edition Moon Phase

1893 Johannes Dürrstein Edition Moon Phase

D007.458.16.017.00

Our exclusive Johannes Dürrstein editions are dedicated to the great Glashütte watchmaking tradition and inspired by historical pocket watches. This model combines the classic complication of the moon phase with a sophisticated calendar. On the outside, too, the elegant timepiece is in no way inferior to its mechanical predecessor: the stainless steel housing with a diameter of 41 mm is worn with a high-quality black calfskin leather strap. Robust sapphire crystal on the front and back of the watch provides a clear view of all its components.

Description

The first Union timepieces were produced in Glashütte in 1893. Today, with a collection named after this significant year, the brand is reinterpreting elements from its own history. The shape of the case is inspired by historical pocket watches, while numerous other details – such as the blued hands, lacquered dials and "railway track" chapter rings – evoke memories of the great classics.

silicon balance spring

silicon balance spring

UNION GLASHÜTTE uses Silicon, a chemical element of the family of metalloids, in the manufacture of balance springs. By use of Silicon, our watches are insensitive to magnetic fields, temperature fluctuations and shocks. They are very stable in shape and resistant to oxidation. The silicon spiral guarantees higher power stability in our mechanical movements - so your watch runs precisely anytime, anywhere. You can recognize the use of the silicon spiral in your UNION GLASHÜTTE watch by the Si-poster that our watchmakers set and align by hand.
STAINLESS STEEL

STAINLESS STEEL

The only grade of steel used by Union Glashütte is stainless steel 316L. This alloy is characterised by its excellent anti-corrosion properties. For the relevant watches, the following components are produced from this material: cases, bracelets, double fold fasteners with two push buttons (decorated).
Saphir

Saphir

The sapphire used by Union Glashütte for its crystals is a white, synthetic sapphire. Thanks to its hardness rating of 9, this crystal can only be scratched by very hard diamond-like substances. Union Glashütte watches only use double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystals. As there are no reflections on the crystal, the full splendour of the dial is revealed.
LEATHER

LEATHER

Union Glashütte uses primarily calfskin for its straps, either smooth or with a crocodile skin finish, as well as cowhide, cordovan or goatskin.
