1893 Johannes Dürrstein Edition Power Reserve

1893 Johannes Dürrstein Edition Power Reserve

D007.456.16.082.00

This model of the 1893 collection presents itself with an exclusive movement, innovative hand-wound calibre and an unconventional dial. The new timepiece stands out from the crowd thanks to its completely redesigned dial. The shimmering blue-green face has been sandblasted. Set back from the centre is a white enamel ring, which has been finished with enamel lacquer unique to UNION. This creates an enchanting 3D effect. The date is shown at 3 o'clock, the power reserve display is at 5 o'clock and a small second is present at 9 o'clock. Each hand has been blued in the fashion that is a hallmark of this timepiece range. A matching blue calfskin strap with crocodile skin effect and satin-finished lugs is reminiscent of classic pocketwatches. However, this timepiece has a total diameter of just 41 mm.

Description

The first Union timepieces were produced in Glashütte in 1893. Today, with a collection named after this significant year, the brand is reinterpreting elements from its own history. The shape of the case is inspired by historical pocket watches, while numerous other details – such as the blued hands, lacquered dials and "railway track" chapter rings – evoke memories of the great classics.

silicon balance spring

silicon balance spring

UNION GLASHÜTTE uses Silicon, a chemical element of the family of metalloids, in the manufacture of balance springs. By use of Silicon, our watches are insensitive to magnetic fields, temperature fluctuations and shocks. They are very stable in shape and resistant to oxidation. The silicon spiral guarantees higher power stability in our mechanical movements - so your watch runs precisely anytime, anywhere. You can recognize the use of the silicon spiral in your UNION GLASHÜTTE watch by the Si-poster that our watchmakers set and align by hand.
STAINLESS STEEL

STAINLESS STEEL

Union Glashütte uses only 316L stainless steel for cases, bracelets, and clasps. This alloy is characterized by high corrosion resistance, stability, and skin compatibility, and has established itself as a particularly reliable material in watchmaking.

Elaborate machining processes create differentiated surfaces – from satin-finished to high-gloss polished. Their precise interplay gives the watch depth and contour and underscores the high manufacturing quality.

Saphir

Saphir

The sapphire used by Union Glashütte for its crystals is a white, synthetic sapphire. Thanks to its hardness rating of 9, this crystal can only be scratched by very hard diamond-like substances. Union Glashütte watches only use double-sided anti-reflective sapphire crystals. As there are no reflections on the crystal, the full splendour of the dial is revealed.
Leather straps

Leather straps

Union Glashütte primarily uses calfskin – smooth or crocodile-embossed – as well as cowhide, horsehide, and goatskin for its watch straps. Each of these materials brings its own unique texture and characteristics, giving the watch an individual character.

As a natural material, leather develops a characteristic patina over time. This change reflects its use and underscores the wearer's personal style.

Water resistance

Water resistance

The water resistance of UNION GLASHÜTTE watches varies depending on the model: Men's watches are protected up to a pressure of 10 bar (100 m), women's watches up to 5 bar (50 m), and gold watches up to 3 bar (30 m). Selected sporty models may offer even higher water resistance.

The stated water resistance is not a permanent characteristic and can be affected by external factors such as the aging of the seals and mechanical stress on the crown or pushers. To ensure continued functionality, regular checks are recommended.

UNION GLASHÜTTE recommends having the water resistance checked approximately once a year by an authorized service partner and replacing any necessary components. Work on the case should only be carried out by qualified professionals.
