PAUL PIETSCH CLASSIC | 8–9 June 2018
Each year, the Black Forest honours racing driver and publisher Paul Pietsch, who passed away in 2012, by hosting a classic car rally that bears his name. The event requires participants to use exclusively mechanical instruments during the race, a restriction that has led to this type of event being referred to as the "Sanduhrklasse" or the "hourglass" class. This makes the race a perfect match for the Union Glashütte brand, which only produces mechanical watches and is an official partner of the event. This year, two drivers representing the Saxon watchmaker were also entered. At the finish line, two winning teams were able to celebrate their victory with new mechanical companions, as the overall winners each received an equally elegant and precise Viro Date, while the winners of the Union Glashütte special stage were presented with two large-second models, from the 1893 collection.
