BELISAR ZEITZONE
NEUHEITEN
22.04.2021

Union Glashütte is right on the mark with its new Belisar GMT, in a stylish look totally fit for adventurers. The well-known Glashütte brand skilfully combines a gorgeous olive-green sunburst dial with a slightly nostalgic case design and rugged goatskin strap. The second time zone will prove a practical feature for the modern traveller, while the evocative overall tone speaks of a distant time when the wrist-watch was introduced, in military contexts, before becoming the elegant must-have accessory that it is today.
Union Glashütte brings creative colour to this design, applying a radial olive-green ombré effect to the dial, from the centre outwards. Set against this rich, handsome background, the red arrowhead of the second-time-zone hand draws instant attention, especially as the colour is echoed in the decorative "Zeitzone" identifier.
The radiant green backdrop and contrasting beige Arabic numerals, featuring Super-LumiNova® to render them visible even in the dark, are reminiscent of so-called "trench watches". Those early devices were among the very first wristwatches ever worn — often glanced at quickly, from beneath the sleeve of a soldier's trench coat. They were far more practical and much better-protected than a pocket watch might have been and slowly, their heroic, virile charm found its way onto the wrists of civilians too.
As befits the sporty elegance of such a vintage look, the 41 mm case wears a slightly rounded sapphire crystal, a lacquered crown and screwed-on steel flanks, characteristic of the Belisar family of watches. A brown goatskin strap with saddle seams and double fold fastener completes the distinctive look. Ticking away inside is the ever-dependable U2893-2 mechanical movement — fully finished, assembled and calibrated in Glashütte.
The Belisar GMT model is available from selected specialist dealers for €1730.00 (recommended retail price).
